Runtime Potential Updater File(S) Identification: Does Your Software Updates Automatically With Application Whitelisting?

Abstract
One of the major hurdles to widespread usage of application whitelisting with today’s dynamically changing and updating software’s; is the static environment it creates that leaves little scope for changes to the system once whitelisting is enforced. The de-facto method to allow for trusted changes to system is to make selected executable files as trusted and allow changes made to the system through these files even when whitelisting is enforced. The problem with this is; difficulty the user faces in identifying the updater files for third party software. In this paper, we present the method to identify the potential updater files for the third party software in a Microsoft Windows environment. Further we test the method for commonly used third party software, presenting the results of experimentation and effectiveness of our approach.

Service Oriented Configuration Management of Software Architecture

Abstract
Software configuration management (SCM) is an important activity in the software engineering life cycle. SCM by control of the evolution process of products leads to constancy and stability in software systems. Nowadays, use of software configuration management is essential during the process of software development as rules to control and manage the evolution of software systems. SCM effects different levels of abstraction included the architectural level. Configuration of software architecture causes improvement in the configuration of the lower abstraction levels. CM of software architecture is more significant in large scale software with longevity of life cycle. Traditional SCM approaches, at the architectural level, do not provided the necessary support to software configuration management, so systems that use these approaches are faced with problems. These problems arise because of the lack of a serious constant and repeated changes in the software process. To overcome this it is necessary to create an infrastructure. Hence, a service oriented approach for configuration management is presented in this paper. In this approach, the activities of configuration management are conducted from a service oriented viewpoint. This approach was also used to try and control the evolution and number of versions of different software systems in order to identify, organize and control change and reforms during the production process. This approach can compose services and create composite services for new undefined activities of configuration.

Accessing Secured Data in Cloud Computing Environment

Abstract
Number of businesses using cloud computing has increased dramatically over the last few years due to the attractive features such as scalability, flexibility, fast start-up and low costs. Services provided over the web are ranging from using provider’s software and hardware to managing security and other issues. Some of the biggest challenges at this point are providing privacy and data security to subscribers of public cloud servers. An efficient encryption technique presented in this paper can be used for secure access to and storage of data on public cloud server, moving and searching encrypted data through communication channels while protecting data confidentiality. This method ensures data protection against both external and internal intruders. Data can be decrypted only with the provided by the data owner key, while public cloud server is unable to read encrypted data or queries. Answering a query does not depend on it size and done in a constant time. Data access is managed by the data owner. The proposed schema allows unauthorized modifications detection.

Multi-Facet Trust Model for Online Social Network Environment

Abstract
Online Social Network (OSN) has become the most popular platform on the Internet that can provide an interesting and creative ways to communicate, sharing and meets with peoples. As OSNs mature, issues regarding proper use of OSNs are also growing. In this research, the challenges of online social networks have been investigated. The current issues in some of the Social Network Sites are being studied and compared. Cyber criminals, malware attacks, physical threat, security and usability and some privacy issues have been recognized as the challenges of the current social networking sites. Trust concerns have been raised and the trustworthiness of social networking sites has been questioned. Currently, the trust in social networks is using the single- faceted approach, which is not well personalized, and doesn’t account for the subjective views of trust, according to each user, but only the general trust believes of a group of population. The trust level towards a person cannot be calculated and trust is lack of personalization. From our initial survey, we had found that most people can share their information without any doubts on OSN but they normally do not trust all their friends equally and think there is a need of trust management. We had found mixed opinions in relation to the proposed rating feature in OSNs too. By adopting the idea of multi-faceted trust model, a user-centric model that can personalize the comments/photos in social network with user’s customized traits of trust is proposed. This model can probably solve many of the trust issues towards the social networking sites with personalized trust features, in order to keep the postings on social sites confidential and integrity.
